Serious Sam TEX Converter
View and convert textures from Serious Sam 1, 2 and 3.
Open .tex files from all three versions of the Serious Engine, also straight from .gro archives, and save them as ordinary images. Or convert your own image into a Serious Sam 1 texture.
What does it do?
- Reads SE1, SE2 and SE3 (BFE 2011, Fusion 2017), including DXT, BC5 normal maps and HDR skies
- Save as TGA, PNG, PCX, BMP, TIFF, JPG, DDS, Radiance HDR and SE1 .tex
- Editing with undo: levels, resize, channels, normal maps
- Batch conversion and skybox tools
- Warns before anything is lost (transparency, HDR, size)

Installation
Windows
- Download the setup and run it.
- Does Windows say "Unknown publisher"? Click More info and then Run anyway.
- Choose the language and follow the steps. To remove it later: Windows Settings > Apps.
Linux
- Download the package and extract it (right-click > Extract here).
- Open a terminal in the extracted folder and type
bash install.sh. - The program appears in the menu. To remove:
bash ~/.local/opt/TheySoft/texconverter/uninstall.sh
